Math Tutoring for Grades 1 - 4
Discover the fascinating world of mathematics in a playful way!
For many students, mathematics is proverbially a book with seven seals. How often have you heard this phrase from your son or daughter? "I will never understand mathematics!" However, I believe that it is usually not a matter of understanding, but rather the appropriate learning strategy. Mathematics plays an extremely important role for every child during their school years. It is a central tool when it comes to navigating everyday life.
Mathematics education in elementary school builds upon students' everyday mathematical experiences. It helps them deepen and expand their understanding of mathematical relationships. However, if your child loses track of arithmetic rules early on, they will definitely struggle with solving complex math problems later on. Pure numbers are too abstract for children to truly grasp. I frequently observe this in my tutoring sessions. It is important to use materials in all areas of mathematics education that convey, illustrate, and above all, are tangible for children. Students should be given the opportunity to visually and practically comprehend numbers, quantities, and mathematical operations.

Math can be so simple when you have the right tools and resources.
Interesting Lectures
I have consciously chosen to specialize in tutoring for grades 1-4 because I believe that the personality of educators has a decisive influence on children's academic trajectories, and this period is crucial for shaping them positively. Therefore, my primary focus is on providing teaching materials that enable multisensory learning and make numbers tangible. Once the foundations are built and individual knowledge gaps are filled, the completion of the current mathematics curriculum will be within reach. This approach makes me an important learning companion who, through careful attention and observation, creates opportunities for each child to engage with learning materials and content that are suitable for them at any given time.
As a parent, despite understanding the challenges your child faces, it is much more difficult to catch up on the curriculum in the limited free time. Upon request, I also offer tutoring for higher grade levels. Let us embark on the exciting journey of discovering mathematics together!
What do we cover in our math lessons?
Mathematics Class 1
Course Content and Objectives
In the Mathematics Class 1 course, your child learns to write the digits 0 to 9 correctly and performs calculations within the number range up to 20. They learn to halve and double quantities. Additionally, your child engages with the tens numbers up to 100. Word problems promote the understanding of number relationships. Your child sorts and arranges quantities based on different criteria and practices spatial reasoning. Geometric shapes and terms are introduced. Your child learns to work with money.
In Class 1, the focus is on developing concepts of size. The primary goal is for the child to develop an understanding of the fundamentals of mathematical relationships.
Mathematics Class 2
Course Content and Objectives
In the Mathematics Class 2 course, your child learns to navigate within the number range up to 100. Multiplication and shared tasks are introduced. Your child deepens their knowledge of basic geometric shapes and their properties. They practice measuring lengths and dealing with units of time. Calculation tasks promote understanding of real-life contexts and number relationships.
In Class 2, your child develops their understanding of numbers, quantities, and spatial thinking. They also become increasingly capable of applying different problem-solving techniques. The primary goal is for the child to become confident and proficient in navigating the 100-chart.
Mathematics Grade 3
Course Content and Objectives
In the Grade 3 Mathematics course, your child will gain confidence in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division within the range of up to 100. A number ranging up to 1000 will be introduced. Your child will expand their knowledge of geometric shapes. They will become more proficient in dealing with lengths, sizes, weights, and time intervals. Problem-solving tasks will enhance their understanding of relationships and the number of connections in real-world contexts.
Mathematics Class 4
Course Content and Objectives
In the Mathematics Class 4 course, your child deepens their knowledge of the four basic arithmetic operations within the number range up to 1000. The number range up to 100,000 and later up to 1 million is introduced. Your child expands their knowledge of geometric shapes and works with a compass. They further their understanding of lengths, quantities, weights, and time intervals. Word problems promote the comprehension of relationships and number connections.
By the end of Class 4, your child will have acquired fundamental knowledge of mathematical terms and symbols, and will use them appropriately. They will understand and master the four basic arithmetic operations.
